Week 1 | LPL College of Arts and Sciences: Simply the Best Place to Start

Here in the College of Arts and Sciences, dreams do come true.

As the cold morning air enters my bedroom, my body started to shiver. I can’t help but to get up on my bed and start the day ahead. Waking up in the first morning in my apartment with serenity and gladness  is such a wonderful blessing from God. This is where I also spending the rest of my college years. It was six o'clock in the morning then when I decided to spend a little time to take a glimpse of the majestic Mt. Makiling. The mysterious mountain even captivated my senses during my twenty minute travel from my place to LPL. The travel is like entering a new dimension, imagining what will happen during my first day in college and the new experiences it can bring. In fact, I didn’t even notice the entire ride on the jeepney. Getting in to LPL campus is an access to the core of knowledge, a perfect hub for those who seek excellence in higher education. While waiting for my first class, a group of fellow CAS upperclassmen welcomed us wholeheartedly. It made me feel I’m home. This is a solid proof why the College of Arts and Sciences in Lyceum of the Philippines-Laguna is the happiest place in the campus.

A series of student activities made me realize that LPL has a lot to offer. From the quality of teaching to the high-end facilities, from a handful of student organizations to the most comprehensive scholarships, LPL is truly the best place to start. On the same week, the entire student body of the College of Arts and Sciences chose a list of student leaders that will be the forerunner of goodwill and camaraderie among CAS students. The Freshmen Day for school year 2012-2013 drew crowd as mixture of color-coded shirts ruled the grounds of LPL Gymnasium. Freshmen students wore their shirts mighty proud while participating in various activities. A celebration of the holy mass initiated the one-day event followed by a series of talk led by the Office of Student Affairs discussing the student life in LPL. The symbolic boodle fight that represents fellowship and equality among freshmen students highlighted the event, giving us an extra time to get acquainted with each other. Flown in the boundless sky are the balloons that holds our hopes and dreams to finish our studies in the institution with flying colors.  It’s fun yet challenging—this was one of the shared reactions felt by most freshmen. Other than being delighted, the LPL-College of Arts and Sciences made me more appreciative of my skills as well as the talents of my fellow classmates. The smiles that I noticed in the faces of CAS students are truly magical. The happiness that I felt during my first week in my department is priceless, that’s why I’m confident to say that here in the College of Arts and Sciences, dreams do come true.

*Premise: CAS is Fun
